Many blame manusmriti , might be there are many texts in manusmriti which indeed speaks against equality of women , which in modern context indeed doesn't resembles the truth. But there are many other scripture which endorces women genunity and the characters in the stories mentioned in vedic scriptures of women like gargi, vedomati (sita) who indeed performed exceptional spiritual endeavours in their life and achieved their Goal.
Socialism to much extent means equality and that's what the vedic characters of many women signifies.
Coming to the monetary aspests, Bhishm pitamah had adviced to yudhishthir about the promotion or entrepreneurship and other social welfare scheme with the main objective to bring prosperity in his kingdom.
